Numerous Canadian artists are running the North American electronic circuit nowadays. The likes of wobble-king Zeds Dead, turntabilist extraordinaire A-Trak, and that guy who wears that ridiculous mouse head during his performances all hail from the country known for maple syrup, hockey, and mounties. Don’t be fooled, the Canadians brew some of the best EDM artists around. One artist in particular seems to grow bigger and bigger each year. I’m talking about Vancouver-born Felix Cartal. While on the notorious Dim Mak records, he’s taken normally atrocious everyday sounds and made some of the most eclectic and aggressive leads to date. As such, EDM veterans Diplo and Laidback Luke have made Cartal’s track “The Joker” a key part of their incredible sets. Check out “The Joker” below. “Domo”, the 2nd release from his newest LP “Different Faces”, is another brilliant track from Cartal that contrasts sweet melodic synths with hard-hitting stabs.
For those of you in the Bay Area, don’t miss out on his upcoming show at Ruby Skye this Thursday, August 2nd.
